April 1 at Courthouse
Everyone is urged to attend the
Pinwheel Placement program Friday, April 1, at 4:30 p.m. at the Pierce County Courthouse, continuing a tradition of bringing attention to the Prevention of Child Abuse. Chairman Anita Young, parent and family engagement specialist for one of the sponsoring organizations/agencies Concerted Services, says, ?This year Pierce County Department of Family and Children reported that there were 276 reported cases of child abuse in Pierce County. This is a higher number than last year. Let us all join together in helping to stamp out child abuse, in all its forms.?? Sponsoring the pinwheel placement including Concerted Services are volunteers from Okefenokee Alliance for Kids, the child abuse prevention chapter for Pierce and Ware Counties; Blackshear Exchange Club, Waycross Exchange Club and Girl Scouts and Brownies Troops of Pierce and Ware Counties. Waycross? Pinwheel program is set for Thursday, March 31, at 5:15 p.m. at Quality Inn on Memorial drive, the former Holiday Inn site. According to Ware County Department of Family and Children Services, there were 658 reported cases of child abuse in Ware County in 2015. ?Come on out and help us as we draw attention to child abuse. It is a shame for a child to hurt,?? stresses Mrs. Young. ?This is one of the prevention projects these volunteers sponsor. Remember, ?It?s OK to Tell.? ??
